HOW TO DRESS
Classic with a twist is all it takes to look sharp this spring
Spring Summer 2014 draws inspiration from the collision of formality and leisurely ease. Classic midcentury pieces, such as the bowling-collared shirt and double breasted jacket, have been updated to suit a metropolitan man who wants to feel comfortable in his shoes while not compromising on quality.
The new collection proposes a variety of stripes and textures, which can be mixed and matched, in a graphic, modernist style, by combining pieces in contrasting textiles. Jackets come in longer lengths, with wide lapels suggesting (without replicating) the details of midcentury tailoring.
Trousers are cropped with wide cuffs and high waistlines, though the silhouette has been streamlined for a more contemporary fit. Plain polo shirts also play a big part, tucked in and worn under the blazer with the collar sticking out. Polka-dot handkerchiefs, popping out of breast pockets, help break the formality, allowing for a summery sense of fun.
