PASSING ON MY STORY TO BUILD MY FUTURE
Spazio Aperto Servizi Onlus
The project 'Cura e Terapia per l’Infanzia e la Famiglia,' (Care and Therapy for Children and Families) was created in 1999 at the social cooperative Spazio Aperto Servizi Onlus, by a group of specialists concentrated in the area of familial abuse and mistreatment. Active since 1993, the co-op offers a multitude of resources to the Milanese public such as health and social services, educational programs, housing services for families, the elderly, the homeless, and those with disabilities.
For over 20 years, CTIF has been providing innovative solutions for young victims of traumatic events such as mistreatment, abuse, and grief; as well as to their families when possible. The initiative offers children and youth, who are welcomed in the residential authorities on the recommendation of judicial authorities, with personalized programs for additional support, which combine the educational “capacity to heal” aspect with a highly qualified clinical approach. While building these personalized itineraries, it is essential to consider leisure activities such as vacations, as crucial to enhancing children’s experiences, passions, and health. Vacations are not merely bonus activities, but rather unique occasions for exercising emotions, using critical thinking, and developing cognitive skills, in a more stimulating environment than the everyday community. Everyone should have the right to live in serenity and enjoy these special experiences.
