Craftsmanship at Fuorisalone
Brera, Tortona, via Durini, Palestro: handmade craftsmanship is a running theme amongst the hundreds of stores and showrooms that are hosting exhibits at this year's Fuorisalone satellite fair. At the Galleria d'Arte Moderna (Modern Art Gallery), ''Doppia Firma'' explores the dialog between artist and artisan. At Bottega Ghianda, you'll find a series of exquisitely crafted objects in wood including a travel-size shoe horn. Amura hosts the materialistic experimentations of Saintluc including chairs and stools made from linen fibers and resin.
The ''Holy Handmade!'' exhibit by Wallpaper* is an homage to divine inspiration and high craft. ''Tabernacle'', by Giacomo Moor, is a contemporary take on the traditional ''dwelling place'' that can house your most treasured items. A minimalist aesthetic serves to showcase materials as in a refined wardrobe designed by Piero Lissoni for Porro or in the bulletproof wooden hangers and an iron/onyx stand created by Ateena - literally made to last. Carlo Moretti showcased his inimitable glass-shaping talents with a series of vases.
