Palate-pleasing events (and what to wear)
In addition to being a period of renewal and transition,
Fall is a season full of food and wine events that are bound to please gourmet enthusiasts around the world.
• Milan: The Expo 2015 Universal Exposition is coming to a close at the end of October, giving you just a few more weeks to visit the pavilions and enjoy the local cuisines of nearly different 150 countries all in one place.
• New York: The annual New York City Food & Wine Festival, running from October 15-18, brings together some of the world’s greatest chefs, winemakers and personalities for a hugely popular event all of whose proceeds go towards charities that fight hunger.
• London: From October 16-18, some of the most renowned chocolatiers, chefs and pastry chefs from around the world will convene for the third edition of the Salon du Chocolat for a series of talks, tastings and workshops.
• Hong Kong: Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, Hong Kong will host its own epicurean event from October 22-25. The Wine & Dine Festival will offer wine education activities, tours, tastings and more.
Whatever your Fall agenda, laid-back events call for a look that is casual but with character. Go for light and flexible pieces that will provide all-day comfort: a pair of 5-pocket jeans, a relaxed shirt with collar and a soft cashmere sweater while an ultra-practical field jacket with hood and flannel lining is the perfect outerwear option. In terms of accessories, cordovan shearling gloves with contrasting interior, a houndstooth scarf and suede desert boots complete the look.
